You have to show interest in the position. Your a 3rd stringer for a reason, you have to ask the coach on what you need to improve on. Is it hand technique, is it your mobility or aggressiveness?

Ask the coach how to improve your chances throughout the season, they will show you what you are doing wrong and how to improve it. You work on it during practice, your coaches will be impressed.

Coaches are suppose to teach you how to improve and motivate you but they can only do so much. It all depends on your dedication on how to improve yourself.

If you can’t play well enough to start, take him blowing.

Hustle, play your way on to special teams and then work your **** off. Dive for every loose ball, don’t ever give up on a play. Also work on improving your technical skills especially for your first year. Again, realize that its your first year, and that the competition you are playing against have been doing this since they were 9 or 10. Don’t expect a lot of yourself this first year.
